Michael Kinder & Sons, Inc. (MKS) was founded in 1892. Back then, we were just three hard workers and a tired old mule. Today we have over fifty employees and scores of trucks, tools and heavy equipment. That old mule is now gone but we still stay true to our core philosophy from those early days:

“We will serve our clients needs, no matter how large or small, by providing quality construction, lasting value, and professional service in our commercial, institutional and industrial buildings.”

That commitment to our core philosophy has really paid off — in strong working relationships throughout the northeastern Indiana construction industry and a constantly expanding range of services offered — and in the best way of all, a long list of satisfied clients who keep coming back again and again.

We are Designer-Builders, General Contractors, and Construction Managers. We take on projects large and small — from construction of entire office parks, to renovations as modest as moving a wall or installing a new door. And when it's time to knock it down and start over, we do demolition too.

Our home office and base of operations is in Fort Wayne, IN, and while the majority of our projects are within a 60-mile radius, we work all over the world. For example, in 1993 we constructed a far-flung network of cellular communications towers in Argentina for GTE Mobilnet (now Verizon).

MKS started out family owned and operated, and we've stayed that way. The current owners are Thomas Kinder, President, who has lead the company for over three decades; Doug Kinder, Secretary; and Bill Kinder, Vice President. All three are Purdue graduates with Engineering / Construction degrees. MKS has ten Project Superintendents on staff, all of whom have been with the company over ten years, and our General Field Superintendent is a fifteen-year veteran.

MKS has a solid financial standing. Our annual sales revenues over the past five years have averaged in excess of $20 million. If your project requires bonding, MKS is fully capable of meeting your requirements with a $20 million single-project maximum, and a $50 million maximum for total work under construction.
